Hi, Sunshines!
I’m beyond excited for this fall, and I hope you all share the same feeling! There’s just something magical about this season. From the crisp, refreshing scent of rain to the cool breeze that sweeps in after the heat of summer, everything feels so alive and beautiful.
As the air turns crisp and the leaves begin to change, I’m inspired to make the most of this cozy and beautiful season. Fall has always been one of my favorite times of the year—the vibrant colors, the sweater weather, and the chance to embrace both outdoor adventures and indoor comforts. This year, I’ve decided to create a fall bucket list to fully experience all the magic this season offers. It’s a combination of simple pleasures, personal challenges, and moments that will bring warmth to my heart and soul.
Read a Book on a Rainy Day
There’s something magical about curling up with a good book while the rain gently taps against the windows. This fall, I want to find the perfect rainy day to grab a soft blanket, make a cup of tea or hot chocolate, and lose myself in a novel. It’s the ultimate cozy escape from the world outside.
Here are some cozy and atmospheric books that perfectly capture the essence of fall, from classic reads to contemporary novels, with themes of mystery, magic, and transformation:
- “The Secret History” by Donna Tartt –dark academia and mystery in an elite collaboration setting ( This book is a masterpiece, I will be sharing my own book recommendations soon, so stay tuned for some great reads coming your way!)
- “Rebecca” by Daphne du Maurier – a gothic classic with suspense and romance
- “We Have Always Lived in the Castle” by Shirley Jackson – a gothic horror novel filled with eerie atmosphere
- “Autumn” by Ali Smith – a thought-provoking, poetic novel that reflects on time, memory, and the changing seasons
- “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” by J.K. Rowling – the beginning of the beloved series set at Hogwarts, featuring the enchanting start of the school year
Make Pumpkin Soup
As the days get cooler, nothing is more comforting than a warm bowl of homemade pumpkin soup. This fall, I plan to experiment with a delicious recipe, blending roasted pumpkin with spices like nutmeg and cinnamon, and maybe adding a swirl of cream on top. It’ll be a comforting dish perfect for chilly evenings.
Fall Baking
Fall is the season for warm kitchens and the smell of sweet treats in the oven. I’m excited to dive into some fall baking projects, like cinnamon rolls (check out my post for cinnamon rolls recipe), spiced cookies, banana bread (check out my post for banana bread recipe) or apple pie. Not only is baking relaxing, but sharing the finished treats with friends and family adds a little extra sweetness to the season. I’ll be sharing recipes for some of those fall baking treats with you very soon!
Coffee Date
One of the coziest things about fall is visiting a charming local café, especially one with big windows where I can watch the leaves fall. I want to treat myself to a coffee date, whether it’s with a friend or just some quiet time for myself. A steaming cup of seasonal coffee, like a pumpkin spice latte or cinnamon cappuccino, will be the perfect companion.
Here are some great café recommendations in my city, Pilsen for locals or visitors alike:
- Café Fellini – cozy spot in Republic Square, perfect for coffee and dessert
- Pappa Coffee – hidden gem with minimalist decor and specialty brews
- Café Regner – relaxed, vintage vibe offering a variety of coffee brewing methods
- Walter Café – a local favorite with a friendly atmosphere and great coffee
- Papírna Café – a trendy café in a former factory, offering a creative atmosphere with art exhibitions
For tea lovers, check out these čajovny (tea houses):
- Čajovna U Pekla – a serene spot with a wide variety of teas
- Dobrá čajovna – popular tea house known with relaxing atmosphere and large selection of high-quality teas from around the world

Chestnuts picking
Fall is chestnut season, and this year I want to go out and pick some myself! Chestnut picking is an old tradition in many places, and I’m excited to get my hands on some fresh, sweet chestnuts. Once gathered, I can roast them at home, filling my kitchen with their rich, toasty aroma.
Fall Picnic
Fall picnics are one of the best ways to savor the crisp air and vibrant autumn colors. I’m planning to pack a cozy basket filled with warm pumpkin soup in a thermos, freshly baked garlic bread, and a batch of homemade cinnamon rolls. With a soft blanket spread out and a perfect view of the changing leaves, it’ll be the ideal setting to unwind and enjoy nature’s beauty. And of course, no fall picnic is complete without your favorite person by your side to share in the warmth and serenity of the season.
Watch Fall
Fall is the ideal time to cozy up indoors for a movie marathon. This year, I want to create a lineup of classic fall-themed movies with a bowl of popcorn, maybe a candle or two, and some comfy blankets, it’s going to be the perfect night in.
Here are some fall movie ideas that capture the essence of the season with cozy vibes, stunning autumn scenery, and heartwarming stories:
- “Dead Poets Society” (1989) – a thoughtful film set in a private school during the fall semester, focusing on the beauty of poetry, youth, and the changing seasons.
- “When Harry Met Sally…” (1989) – a classic romantic comedy set against the backdrop of New York City in the fall, featuring beautiful foliage and a heartwarming story about friendship and love
- “You’ve Got Mail” (1998) – charming rom-com showcases the magic of fall in the city, with cozy bookstores, coffee shops, and a delightful love story
- “Chocolat” (2000) – set in a picturesque French village, beautifully weaves the warmth of chocolate with the spirit of transformation and love
- “Little Women” (2019) – beautifully captures the changing seasons, with cozy scenes set against the backdrop of a New England autumn
These movies are perfect for getting into the autumn spirit, whether you’re looking for romance, drama, or a touch of magic!
Crochet
Fall is also a season for creativity, and I’ve always wanted to take up crochet. This year, I plan to crochet something cozy like a scarf, gloves, or even a chunky blanket. It’s a relaxing, mindful activity, and at the end, I’ll have something handmade to keep me warm during the colder months.
Donate Used Clothes
Fall is a time for giving back and decluttering, which is why I’m planning to sort through my wardrobe and donate gently used clothes to those in need. It’s a small way to make a difference while also clearing space for the upcoming winter layers. It feels good to know someone else can benefit from the things I no longer need.
Make Chai Tea Lattes
There’s nothing quite like the warm, spiced comfort of a homemade chai tea latte on a cool fall day. I’m excited to brew a fragrant blend of black tea, cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom, then froth some milk to create a creamy, comforting drink. It’ll be a perfect way to savor the flavors of fall while relaxing at home.
